Our family is forever

On the 17th of this month our family and the Britos were able to go to the open house of the Draper LDS Temple. It was such a wonderful experience. It is a beautiful temple. It was really neat for the three of us to get to experience this together. Brendan seemed so interested in all the pictures and was so content and reverent the whole time. It seemed as though he could really feel the spirit of where we were and what we were doing.

I am so grateful for the role the temples play in my family's life. It was just over 3 years ago that Sam and I were married and sealed together for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. When Brendan was born it was so amazing and comforting to know that whatever happened Brendan will always be our child and that the three of us can be together for ever.

Learning so much...

Recently Brendan has become so much more interactive. He is laughing at us all the time. His laugh is so cute and we will act like complete fools just to gets some giggles from him. He has also begun making car noises, so we are sure he is going to be all boy!

Another fun thing he has been doing is pulling himself up to a sitting position when reclining against something. It's very funny because he doesn't quite have the balance down to sit so he will pull himself up then tip right over usually right onto his tummy. It always makes us giggle.

He has forgotten how to roll over though. He did it for at least a week very consistently, but for the last week or so he won't even come close. I guess he is too focused on learning the next thing.

It has been so fun to watch him grow and learn. I can't believe how big he has gotten so quickly. He is so observant and seems to be trying to figure things out all the time. I love how often he will just stop whatever he is doing to just stare and smile at me. I never expected that I could love him as deeply as I do and never could I have dreamed that I would want to spend all day just talking, staring and playing with him.

Here are some recent pictures.

I think he heard gumbrush and thought he'd give it a try.
The is one of the best smiles we have gotten an picture of. He is so camera shy.
Doin' some tummy time.
Next stop: PRO! At least we hope since that is our retirement plan.
He loves his Christmas toy from Mom and Dad.

Comments

For some reason the code I was using for the layout of my blog was making it so no one was able to comment. That should be fixed now!

Uh oh...he's mobile!!

Last Saturday Brendan and I were on the bed rolling him over onto his tummy to play. But for the first time ever I didn't have to roll him onto his back because he did it himself! I was surprised, but thought I must have just been leaning the mattress, so I rolled him back over to his tummy and he did it again! After that he was too tired to try again. The next day he did it a couple more time and has been doing it a few times every day ever since. Today we tried it on the floor without any give from the mattress and he rolled right over three times. It is so cute to see him think so hard about it. He uses the weight from his head to get himself started and then uses his arms and legs to go the rest of the way.

I tried to get some video of him doing it, but got so caught up in encouraging him that by the time he rolled over the camera wasn't aimed at him anymore! We will have to try the camcorder again tomorrow.

I am so excited to see him growing, though I do miss my little, little baby boy. And now we have to finish baby proofing!

We have a giggle!

Brendan is 3 months old today!

Monday night Sam was playing with Brendan. He was bouncing him in his lap and making funny sounds and faces at him. Brendan let out 2 high pitched guttural giggles. It was so cute. He has only done it once or twice since. Our little boy is getting so big and already showing his sense of humor.

Last Saturday we went to the Utes basketball game with Tim and Jane. Brendan tried on Jane's sunglasses. They didn't quite fit...
This week Brendan has been sleeping through the night. He was doing this mid-January, but then went back to waking up every four hours to eat. This week he is back to sleeping about 10 hours a night straight. It has been wonderful to be able sleep all night long! He has even been putting himself to sleep every night in his crib. We are such lucky parents!!
Yesterday afternoon Grandma Brito, DeAnn, Jessica and Baby Lindsey came to visit. It was so nice to see all of them and Brendan stayed pretty happy the whole visit. I think they wore him out. He slept on the couch right after they left.
Brendan loves to suck on his fist. Sometimes he will get just his thumb but most of the time the whole thing gets shoved in there.
I have picture proof of Brendan's love for splashing in the tub :) He is too cute!
What do you think of his new hairdo?
Just before Brendan was born we bought him a Curious George. Think he likes it?
